Pop Art Books

“Pop Art Books transforms vintage books into contemporary works of art, using their covers as a stage for fashion, wit and popular culture.

Working with books from the 1950s and 1960s, Kalen Lennox paints directly onto their original surfaces, preserving the patina, typography and material history of each object while introducing a new visual narrative.

The series draws on fashion, sport and the imagery of leisure, often with a playful and ironic tone. Familiar references are reframed through Lennox’s own visual language, creating works that sit somewhere between painting, object and cultural fragment.

By choosing vintage books as his support, Lennox also gives new life to objects that might otherwise be forgotten. Their age and imperfections become part of the work, turning each piece into a dialogue between past imagery and contemporary culture.”
